St. Louis Cardinals’ reliever Josh Hancock was killed in an early Sunday car accident.
No details of the accident are available at this time.
Hancock, 29, had been a key member of the St. Louis bullpen during last season’s World Series championship run. He joined the Cardinals in 2006, having previously pitched for Boston, Philadelphia and Cincinnati.
As a result of Hancock’s death tonight’s scheduled game with the Chicago Cubs has been postponed. The Cardinals organization is expected to make a formal announcement this afternoon regarding Hancock.
My condolences to Hancock’s family and the St. Louis organization.
